This is the story of Sadako, a young girl who died of Leukemia because of the nuclear bomb in Japan that caused Radioactive rain. The poor girl was only a mile from ground zero when the bomb hit so... that's where the leukemia came from.
When Sadako was sick she tried to make 1000 paper cranes for her "one wish" that Japanese legends say you get if you for completing the 1000 cranes but she died and was buried with the cranes before she could finish them.
that might be really offensive to somebody somewhere.

ReplyDeleteI know that our school made 1000 paper cranes, and I've gotten no explination that they might have been inspired from this story. It's still sad though. I never really liked war. The physical and emotional toll on everyone effected is horrible.
